HOPE in Action
On August 14th, 2010 the Southbridge Community will host its Second Annual Southbridge Community Day. On this day we will celebrate the wonderful energy and spirit of the Southbridge Community and its residents. Agencies will open their doors and invite members of the community to come in and enjoy the activities scheduled for the day. We are asking for support from all Southbridge residents, agencies, businesses and friends of the Southbridge community. We need donations, volunteers and participation from our community members.
Southbridge is the first HOPE Zone of the Wilmington HOPE Commission and our partnership with the commission has been productive. We want to continue promoting the collaboration and partnerships because we know that through our own efforts we can create the change we want to see in our neighborhoods.
On Southbridge Community Day, several agencies will open their doors to provide services and information such as Henrietta Johnson Medical Center, Neighborhood House, Ezion Fair Baptist Church, Elbert Palmer School, Wilmington Housing Authority, and more. Fun activities, games and food will be provided for all who attend. We plan to provide free TB screenings for children, blood pressure and cholesterol screening, school supply giveaway, a community parade and a host of programs and activities are being planned by our faith leaders and other community partners.
The overall purpose of this day is to encourage residents to come out and spend time with one another, visit the service agencies in the community and take advantage of what they have to offer, get involved in the community and enjoy the day. We are excited about the potential outcome on this day and we would love for you to demonstrate your support and commitment to Southbridge by making a contribution – whatever you are able to do – treasure, time and talent.
HOPE begins with you – so please join us – we need you!
